History of Playground Surfacing

OPInion

When I was in elementary school a girl in my class fell from the monkey bars and broke her arm.  Even at my age that memory of her crying is still with me.  The incident imbedded in me that life has risks and if I choose to do something it may have consequences positive or negative.  I like many parents have sheltered my daughter trying to keep her safe.  As parents most of us have doing too much sheltering, our kids need to learn there are consequences at an early age.  They need to be taught responsibility for themselves and realize they need to think for themselves.

This sheltering has caused more people to rely on government, have expectations that someone will take care of them.  Many adults have adopted this philosophy that the government needs to take care of the people that make poor decisions.

People need to take responsibility of themselves and expect the save of others.
